Summer Series 2017 No 4: Newbridge

The next event in the series is an Urban Sprint (on a newly designed map) which takes place next Tuesday (6th June) in Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Assembly and parking in Ryston Sports & Social Club.

There will be two registration points, one in Ryston and one at the start which is near the main bridge at the top of the Linear Park (for those who will not be driving to the event).

There are the usual three courses on offer:

Adventure 1.7 km;
 Medium 2.9 km ;
Long 3.8 km;

Start times from 6.30pm to 8:00pm. Courses close at 9:00pm.

Single entries: €5 Families: €10

This event will take in the local parks and their surrounding areas and is being run in conjunction with the local Newbridge June Fest festival so a good crowd is anticipated. All beginners looking to try it out don't worry we will have plenty of club members on hand to show you the ropes.

Summer Series 2017 League Table

The league table is now available on the Irish Orienteering Website, click below to see how you stand!

Remember, there are prizes for First, Second and Third place on each course, for both men and women. Places are based on your best four events out of five, and any junior orienteer (M/W18 and lower) will get a small prize just for completing any four events. Prizegiving will take place at the BBQ in Hollywood at the last event on June 20th

CNOC Summer Series 2017 League Table

Summer Series 2017 No 3 - Donadea (30th May)

The next event in the series takes place next Tuesday (30th May) in Donadea Forest Park, near Clane, Co. Kildare. There are the usual three course on offer:

Adventure 2.5 km;
Medium 5 km ;
Long 7 km;

Full leg cover required on all courses.

Forest Park barrier will be open for orienteers from 5pm to 7:45 (free admission). Start times from 6pm to 7:30pm. Courses (strictly) close at 8:30pm, due to forest barriers locking at 9pm.

Children/Students/OAP: €5
Adults: €8
Families: €20

Summer Series No 2 - Naas Urban

The next event in the Summer Series takes place next Tuesday night (23rd) on our urban Naas map.

Registration/Start and Finish are all based in the rear carpark in Naas Hospital - the event will be signposted from the main hospital entrance

Start times are from 18:30 to 20:00, and there are three courses as usual:

Adventure: 1.5km
Medium: 2.2km (Sprint format)
Long: 4.1km (Sprint Format)

The event is planned/organised by Eileen Loughman and Kevin O'Boyle, and promises to be a good evening out for all the family.

Entry fees are the standard €5 for Children/Students, €8 for Adults and €20 for a family (2 adults + kids) - SI cards can be rented at registration for €2 (€40 fee if not returned)

Summer Series 2017 - No 1 - Curragh Sunnyhill

Adventure - 2.2km, 45m climb, 12 controls
Medium - 5.6km, 70m climb, 19 controls
Long - 7.4km, 70m climb, 21 controls

Start Times from 6:30pm - 8pm
Course Close at 9pm

Summer Series 2017

Its that time of year again when we head for the short grass, concrete, and forests of Kildare and West Wicklow for the annual CNOC summer series - commencing next week (Tues 16th) on the Curragh at Sunnyhill.

This years Summer Series consists of 5 competitive events, and a sixth fun event (including BBQ) at Hollywood on the 20th. For purposes of calculating league positions, we'll use the standard scoring system for leagues on orienteering.ie, with the best 4 of 5 events to count. There will be prizes for the top three men and top three women on each course, and a small prize for all juniors that complete 4 events. Prize-giving will take place at the BBQ in Hollywood.

16th May - Curragh @ Sunnyhill
23rd May - Naas (Urban)
30th May - Donadea Forest Park
06th June - Newbridge (Urban)
13th June - Curragh @ Lumville Cross
20th June - Hollywood (BBQ + Prizegiving)

As per usual, all the events have three courses of offer (Adventure/Medium/Long)If you plan on bringing a large group to any of the events, advance warning is appreciated so we can ensure we have enough maps, etc..
