CNOC Summer Series No. 3

The third event in the CNOC Summer Series is on next Tuesday 27th May.
The venue is a new map of Killinthomas Wood, near Rathangan, Co. Kildare, surveyed Jan-April 2014.
Map scale is 1:7500
The terrain is mixed deciduous and coniferous forest, with few brambles in the forest, some areas of clearfelling and some fallen trees from recent storm.  The area is flat and has no climb.

Directions: Killinthomas Wood, Grid ref  N 665 215,  is 2 km North of Rathangan, which is 10-15 mins from the M7 motorway exit 12 (Curragh).  From Rathangan take the R401 Edenderry road for 1 km and turn right at the roundabout.

Pat Healy has planned three courses as follows:
Adventure 2.2 km
Medium 4.4 km
Long 5.5 km

Timing will be SportIdent.  SI "cards" can be rented for €2.
Start times 18:00 to 19:30
Entry fees: adult €7, junior/student/over-65 €4, family €16.

CNOC Summer Series No. 2

The 2nd event of the Summer Evening Series will take place next Tuesday (20th May) on the Curragh. Parking and registration will be at Lumville House
Please use pre-entry for the event here

Once again it will be a scatter event with 25 controls placed in the terrain. You then chose which controls to go to and which to leave out.
Long : 20 controls
Medium: 15
Short: 8, the recommended route is controls nos. 1 to 8
Timing will be electronic, a sportIdent "card" can be hired for €2 if you don't own one.
Start times between 18:00 and 19:30.  Courses close at 20:30 and the controls will be removed by 21:00.

Directions: from Dublin take the M7 and get off at exit 12. Take the first exit at the roundabout, towards Kilcullen. Take the first left on the road, and then turn right very soon after.

Donadea Forest Park

The first event of the Summer Evening Series in on next Tuesday (13th May) in Donadea Forest, between Clane and Kilcock, Co. Kildare.
Eileen is planning - a "Scatter" - same as last year - 25 controls out in the forest, go to as many as your course requires.

Long Course must punch at 22 controls, optimum route about 6 km.
Medium course go to 15, optimum route about 4km.
Short course visit 10 controls, the recommended route is controls nos. 1 to 10 in numerical order, about 3 km.
Timing will be electronic, a sportIdent "card" can be hired for €2 if you don't own one.
Start times between 18:00 and 19:30.  Courses close at 20:30 and the controls will be removed by 21:00.

Directions: from Clane take the Kilcock road R407 for 5 km, then turn left, signposted Donadea Forest Park.  4.5 km along the forest entrance is on the left.
We hope to be able to use the side gate to the car park - more information on this to follow.
